Must Go On

I was listening to music last night before going to sleep, as I do every night. For some reason, I felt like trying to understand the meaning of the lyrics from some of my favorite songs; trying to see if they had any meaning as to why they were my favorites. Most of them… well, I couldn’t figure out a meaning to their lyrics, but there were several that I could clearly see what the lyrics were trying to get across. Out of the many songs I listened to, one particular song made me really have to think. This song starts off with two questions that many people probably don’t have an answer for. Before last night, I hadn’t even wondered about answers for them, let alone ever thought to ask myself them. These are, however, good questions to ask, and good questions to have an answer to.

“Empty spaces – what are we living for?
Abandoned places – I guess we know the score…
On and on!
Does anybody know what we are looking for?”

These lyrics are from a popular song by Queen,”The Show Must Go On”. This song was written by Brian May during the last few months of Freddie Mercury’s life, and if you really listen to the lyrics, you can begin to see the message of the song.

I really do think these are hard questions to ask yourself before it is too late. What am I living for? What am I looking for in life? Well, after listening to the lyrics, really trying to understand them, I came up with an answer for myself. I am living my life for God, and no one else. I am looking to have a happy life, filled with countless happy, fun memories; however, my life must honor God.

“My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies,Fairy tales of yesterday, will grow but never die,I can fly, my friends!”

All lyrics (in italics) are from “The Show Must Go On” by Queen.

Pause or Rewind?

You know what would be cool? If your life had  either a pause or rewind button! For all those times you wished you had done something different from what you ended up doing, fun memories you wish you could relive again, or for revisiting the past, there would be the rewind button in your life. Or how about those times you are having such a good day, you wish it would never end? Well, there’s the pause button! If you could have either a pause or rewind button for your life, which would you choose?

I would definitely choose the rewind button. After all, it could act as both, right? The rewind button would be so cool to have in life; you could undo some of the bad choices you made, go back to all the good times you spent with your friends and family, or relive a great day over again. I think it would be interesting to try out a rewind button, but then again, how would it have affected my life today? Would I be a different person if I had rewound my life every time I made a mistake? Yeah, probably.  For better or for worse, I would never know.

I’m sure there is a perfectly good reason our lives don’t have the same controls as a video does. Yeah, it would be cool to try, but if it changed my life from how it is now, I don’t think I’d want these buttons.

  9. Do you think any type of afterlife exists? Oh yes.
  10. What is something you wish everyone could know about you? I just wish people knew just because I don’t have much to say, doesn’t mean I’m shy and don’t want to have a conversation. I just can never come up with stuff to talk about.
  11. If someone were to make a movie of your life, what actor/actress would you want to play you? I don’t care as long as she looked somewhat like me, was a good actress, and wasn’t incredibly annoying to watch.

Here is an article I wrote about training. Please follow my blog, One For The Dogs!

One For The Dogs

When owning a dog, it is important to teach them everything they need to know to live peacefully with other people. Your dog needs to know what he can and can not do, and he needs to know that you are in charge of him and he needs to listen to you, not the other way around. The key to owning a well-behaved dog lies in the way you train him. Your training needs to be effective, so here are some tips on how to train your dog effectively.

If you think training is unnatural, think again. Even in the wild, dogs crave leadership and direction; that is the whole reason why packs are formed. Even if you only have two dogs, one will always be in charge of the other. You must be the leader of your dogs, and you must show them how they are to behave…

Seven Things I Couldn’t Live Without

There are many things in my life I could very easily live without, TVs, computers, and cell phones being some of them. Sure, these things are fun to have and cell phones do come in handy, but if it came down to choosing only seven things to live with (excluding other people, of course) anything electronic would definitely not be one of my seven things.

My seven things I can’t live without consists of a very simple list. I definitely couldn’t live without food or water, but besides things that are absolutely necessary for survival, here are my seven things I couldn’t live without…

  1. The Bible
  2. My dogs
  3. My horse
  4. A car
  5. A gun or bow, so I would still be able to hunt every year
  6. Sadly, money… without it, I couldn’t feed myself or my pets!
  7. Clothes, but just something simple, nothing fancy…
